Marvel Studios are apparently pulling out the stops for the upcoming two-part Avengers: Infinity War movie spectacle, and in an appearance at Wizard World New Orleans co-director Joe Russo revealed just how big the cast of characters could be.
""We have so many characters we're dealing with," Russo said (via ComicBookMovie). "We're breaking ground on Avengers: Infinity War. We have a board with 67 characters on it. You have to forgive him."
Russo will be co-directing this movie with his brother Anthony, and the two had previously said Avengers: Infinity War will be the climax of the first ten years of Marvel Studios' movies.
“The intent with the Infinity War films is to bring ten years of accumulative storytelling to an incredible climax,” said the Russos. “We felt that the best way to exploit the scale and scope required to close out the final chapter of these three phases, was to be the first films shot entirely on the IMAX/ARRI Digital camera.”
If you count up all of the heroes who've appeared in various Marvel Cinematic Universe movies you'd still come far short of finding a number near 67. While 67 might not be the final number, who do you think will make a surprise appearance (or return)?
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 opens in theaters May 4, 2018, with Part 2 due out May 3, 2019.
