Original Story: Two new stills from Daredevil have surfaced via Entertainment Weekly. The first one features Jon Bernthal's Punisher facing off against a restrained Daredevil (played by Charlie Cox), while the second sees Cox's character heating up his relationship with Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page. New showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez say following up on the previous season isn't a negative, but a positive.

“The advantage of any sequel is you can dive right in,” said Petrie. “We hit the ground running and then we ran as fast as we f—ing could.”

According to Ramirez, the Frank Castle character owes a heavy debt to Robert DeNiro's Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver.

"He has a different moral code,” said Ramirez.. “Matt is a devout Catholic — and you rarely see a character who’s a devotee anything on TV. Frank has Hammurabi’s Code. It’s like letting a great white shark into the water.”

Bernthal admitted to feeling intense pressure in taking on the role of the Punisher, and carried it with him to the filming.

”People have been coming up to me on the streets of New York saying, ‘Do not mess this up,’” said Bernthal.“This character has resonated with law enforcement and military. He’s brought the war home with him in the worst possible way. And the best thing about him is that if he offends you, he just doesn’t care.”

The next season of Daredevil will also introduce Elektra, played by G.I. Joe: Retaliation's Elondie Yung. While Matt Murdock's relationship with Karen will be blossoming this season, with Elektra being Daredevil's college ex-girlfriend, there's bound to be some fireworks.

“Matt’s a deeply moral complicated guy and she’s just the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have,” said Petrie. “She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He’s both repulsed and deeply drawn to that.”

Daredevil's second season is scheduled to be released some time in 2016.
