Speaking to China's Sina, Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo have revealed that their film will be shot entirely in IMAX. Joe Russo explained that they made the decision to shoot Avengers: Infinity War in IMAX after shooting 20 minutes of Captain America: Civil War in that format. He also explained that the format lends itself to a better experience for superhero films.
"I just feel that the thing that distinguishes movies right now is that widescreen format," said Joe Russo. "Why you go out of your house and go to the theater is to have that experience that you can't have in your house."
Russo went on to explain that fans "won't be disappointed" by the extensive roster of characters in Avengers: Infinity War, calling the two-part blockbuster the culmination of 20 films.
"There are 20 movies behind them, they're the culmination of twenty films. You won't be disappointed in the scale of those movies or of the number of characters that are in them. As mentioned, it's the culmination of 20 movies, and so 20 films of storytelling will intersect in those movies."
