Actor Andre Tricoteux has been replaced as Colossus in Deadpoolaccording to Entertainment Weekly. Tricoteux was replaced by Serbian actor Stefan Kapicic, known for his roles on 24 and The Event. Kapicic's casting came so late, that they re-shot the scenes with Colossus -- now with Kapicic as the Russian -- in earlier December.

The recasting was a choice made to bring Colossus closer to his comic book counterpart, giving him a more authentic accent and an appearance closer to his look in comic books.

"Tim Miller’s idea of Colossus was to be bigger and stronger than everyone else, so for the motion capture they needed an extremely tall man," Kapicic revealed. "I’m 6-foot-4, but he wanted Colossus to be over 7 feet, so they used a stunt double to recreate his height, and he did very good job there. Tim also wanted Colossus to sound as close as possible to the comic book character’s background, so he had me to come in, since my voice was what he envisioned for Colossus, who has an authentic Russian accent. My character’s voice gives him the past history as Piotr Rasputin once you hear him speak. This made him the most authentic to the original idea of the comic book character."

Kapicic is a self-confessed comic book fan, saying he "can't live without them," and telling EW that his grandfather bought him his first comic book at 6 years old. He says playing Colossus is a "dream come true." You can briefly see Kapici in action as Colossus in this new clip:

Meanwhile, another new clip has hit the web, this one promoting the Christmas Day release of the new full-length Deadpool trailer. Check it out right here:
