Veteran genre actor Michael Bowen has been cast to play Patrick "Matches" Malone in Fox's Gotham, according to ComicBook. The character was alluded to earlier this year when Natalie Alyn Lind's Silver St. Cloud mentioned a "M. Malone" as the murderer of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
Fox describes the Malone character as one of "Gotham's deadliest killers, Matches Malone is a weathered, philosophical hitman who may be the triggerman behind one of the most important crimes in Gotham's history."
In comic books, Matches Malone has strong ties to Batman -- but not as the killer of his parents. Malone was a lesser criminal that died during a heist, with Dark Knight covering up his death in order to use his identity to go undercover in the Gotham criminal underworld.
Bowen is a veteran actor, having appeared in films ranging from The Godfather Part III to Beverly Hills Cop III. He has been used numerous times by writer/director Quentin Tarantino, and also played roles on Lost and Breaking Bad.
Gotham airs Mondays on Fox.
