Lara Croft might be heading back to the big screen, as Warner Bros. have hired The Wave director Roar Uthang for a Tomb Raider reboot, according to Variety. Warner Bros. acquired the film rights to the video game franchise in 2013, and plans to restart the franchise with no connection to the Angelina Jolie-starring 2001 and 2003 films.
Tomb Raider would be Roar Uthaug's first English-language film, as all his previous work has been in his native country of Norway. The Wave was submitted for consideration as a foreign langauge nominee for the Oscars.
Square Enix recently rebooted the Tomb Raider video game franchise, with a follow-up game coming later this year. Dark Horse has produced several tie-in comic book series.
