At an event promoting the Chinese release of Ant-Man, Marvel's Manager of Licenssed Publishing Jeffrey Reingold and VP of Animation Steve Wacker told the audience that Marvel is working on creating characters that will appeal to Chinese markets.
Reported by Xinhua News (via GBTimes), Reingold told the audience that "We have felt the passion of Chinese fans. As long as there is a demand in the market, it is possible to add Chinese elements and culture to Marvel products and create Chinese heroes and stories."
Wacker also referred to Iron Fist as a Marvel property that incorporates various elements of Chinese culture and mythology.
Ant-Man opened to $43.2 Million in China, making it Marvel's second strongest opening behind Avengers: Age of Ultron in that country.
