Though we've seen more of him in recent trailers, Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor remains one of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's biggest questions. Now, the star has provided some answers about what fans can expect from his performance. Eisenberg told Vulture that, while he did not grow up a comic book fan, much of his inspiration for Luthor came directly from the source material.
“There is this trove of stuff about this guy. A lot of it's repetitive, like he always winds up on the roof of his building giving some faux benevolent talk about how he's going to change the city,” he explained. “It's fun to take that campy cartoony stuff and try to put it into a real person and try to reconcile the two.”
However, Eisenberg also made it clear that his Luthor would be unlike any previously seen on the big screen. “This movie is so different ... it has real psychological underpinnings, and this movie character feels like a real scary person.”
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 26, 2016.
