The casting of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was a bit of surprise, but the actress has revealed that studio had their eye on her for quite some time. In fact, they originally offered her another role that, if she took it, would have excluded her from even trying out to become Wonder Woman.
In an interview with Xnet, the Israeli actress said that she was offered the role of Faora-Ul in Man of Steel but turned it down.
"When I was a month pregnant with [my daughter] Alma, I received an offer to be the main female villain in the first Superman film," Gadot said. "If I wasn't pregnant I would've taken the job, and there's no way they would have considered me to be Wonder Woman."
Pandorum actress Antje Traue was ultimately cast in that role, while Gadot ended up filming Fast & Furious 6 after her pregnancy and was eventually called back for Wonder Woman.
Gadot debuts as Wonder Woman in March 25's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and later leads the Wonder Woman movie which is due out June 23, 2017.
