DC Comics' 1982 Style Guide is the stuff of legend. Created by artist Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, the style guide was used as in-house reference for DC's artists of the time in their work on the company's various titles. While the guide was never released to the public for sale, much of the art found in its pages has been used for marketing and merchandising purposes for decades.
Now, the Facebook group Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez Fans has published more than 200 pages of the 1982 Style Guide in an album that showcases everything from character guides, to stock art, to color charts for DC's biggest characters. While many of these characters have undergone sometimes drastic costume changes in the years since the 1982 Style Guide's creation, it set the tone for decades of DC comic books.
