At the D23 Expo 2015, Disney announced the building of Star Wars-themed "lands" at both California's DisneyLand and Florida's Disney Hollywood Studios. No opening date was given, but Disney CEO Bob Iger said it's the largest expansion in theme park history -- with 14 acres planned for both sites.
“I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars,” said Iger. “Through each new attraction and new land we create, we push the boundaries of what is possible. And as you can imagine, withStar Wars, we are taking that to a whole new level, with a whole galaxy to explore.”
The Star Wars lands will replicate a "never-before-seen planet," with a trading port, restaurants, and two attractions -- with aliens and droids acting as workers in the land. One of the attractions will allow visitors to pilot the Millenium Falcon on a "customized secret mission."
