Andrew Garfield played Spider-Man just one year ago in Amazing Spider-Man 2, but now he's on the outside looking in as Tom Holland has been cast in a rebooted Spider-Man franchise run by Marvel for Sony. And at a recent red carpet event (reported by ETOnline), Garfield opened up for the first time about the new Spider-Man, Tom Holland.
"It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor," said Garfield. "He was in this movie The Impossible and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor. And [he's] a dancer, so his body’s the right [form]."
As for how he feels giving up the Spider-Man reins, Garfield says he's happy to be just another friendly neighborhood spider-fan.
"I’m just really excited to just be a fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it," Garfield admitted.
ETOnline also caught up with Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee, who shared his excitement at Spider-Man joining the Marvel cinematic universe.
"He's the big one. Spider-Man is the big gun. You show him anywhere around the world, and people know who he is."
Lee also commented on Holland's casting, though he admitted he wasn't familiar with Holland as an actor.
"I don't know him intimately. In fact I've never seen him. But if they picked him, he's good to me."

The new untitled Spider-Man film is scheduled to hit theaters July 28, 2017.
