Marvel has announced via Polygon a new series re-teaming two of its most extreme 1990s characters in Deadpool & Cable: Split Second. Series writer Fabian Nicieza promises that the series would feature "time travel confusion, bromance, mercenary action" and more. Nicieza is joined by co-writer/artist Reilly Brown, with the six-issue series debuting in October in the Infinite Comics format, with a print edition beginning in December.

"[Deadpool & Cable Split Second is about] love lost and love found," Nicieza said. "It is about struggling through a life of regret and struggling through the soulful tug of conscience that nags at us as a species, tasking us to ask of ourselves, 'Is this all I am? Is this all I can be? Do I have the courage to be more?' If we fail to answers those questions for each and every one of our readers, then we will have failed in our assignment."

"Also," Brown added. "Deadpool shoots a lot of guys. Don't forget that part!"

Both Niceiza and Brown worked on the long-running Cable & Deadpool series, and Niceiza scripted the Merc with a Mouth's debut appearance in New Mutants #98. Brown also worked on the recent Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet with Deadpool series writer Gerry Duggan.

"The time travel aspect of [Deadpool & Cable: Split Second] gives us the opportunity to use some really cool storytelling techniques, and we're going to be doing some stuff that will really melt brains... Or at least cause huge headaches at all the logical impossibilities, like any good time travel story!"

The solicitation for the first issue reads as follows:
