If you take long-time X-Men director Bryan Singer at his word, a crossover between X-Men and the Fantastic Four in film has just gone from possible to perhaps even probable.
The director recently answered some questions by fans for Yahoo!, and one of those was about the long-rumored crossover, leading the director to add to his previous comments about it being possible to saying that talks are being held.
"Those ideas are in play," Singer says. "We'll have to see how [Fantastic Four and X-Men: Apocalypse] turn out. To just say you're going to do it would be a mistake. You have to see how the films evolve before you make that decisiont to completely commit to that."
Although X-Men: Days of Future Past was the highest grossing film of the X-Men movies yet, Fantastic Four has yet to be proven as a long-term franchise for 20th Century Fox. That being said, the studio has already announced a unnamed Marvel "mystery" movie for July 13, 2018.
Singer said a crossover would be "natural".
"That would be a natural match-up because they're both ensemble films and there is such a natural mechanism by which to do it," Singer adds. "I don't want to give it away, but it deals with time. That's all I'm going to say."
