Veteran actor Michael Ironside is joining CW's The Flash, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Canadian actor has been cast to play Lewis Snart, the father of Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (as played by Wentworth Miller) and Lisa Snart/Golden Glider (Peyton List).
THR describes Ironside's elder Snart as an "estranged, abusive" father and a "cold-blooded, ruthless career criminal." The trade goes on to say that Lewis Snart returns to Central City after being paroled from prison, and is up to something that "will endanger" both his children.
Ironside will reportedly debut in the third episode of The Flash's new season, titled "Family of Rogues."
Ironside is well-known for playing "tough guy" roles in such films as Starship Troopers and Total Recall. Modern audiences might know him best however for voicing Sam Fisher in the video game franchise Splinter Cell. Ironside has also had roles in other superhero genre fare, from a minor role in X-Men: First Class to playing General Sam Lane in Smallville. He's also voiced Darkseid and Batman in various Warner Bros. animated projects.
