Warner Bros. announced Friday that CW's Arrow is welcoming in a new series regular for this fall's fourth season: Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk. McDonough is best known in comic book circles for playing Dum Dum Dugan in Captain America; The First Avenger, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter.
Warner Bros. describes Damien Darhk as a "mysterious and sophisticated villain," and has been mentioned by name previously in Arrow as an ally-turned-adversary of the late Ra's Al Ghul. Darhk now leads a secret group seperate from the League of Assassins called H.I.V.E., and various henchmen of his appeared in Arrow's third season.
In comic books, Darhk debuted was created by Devin Grayson and Mark Buckingham in 1999's Titans #1 as a underworld villain with ties to, but not in charge of, H.I.V.E. Besides an appearance in the 2004 DC Comics Encyclopedia, Darhk has been absent from comic books since 2000's Titans #12.
The man who'll be playing Damien Darhl however is well-versed in the superhero genre, even before portraying Dum Dum Dugan. The 49 year-old actor played a major role in RED 2, and has voiced numerous characters in animation from Marvel's the Hulk / Bruce Banner, Firebrand, to DC's the Flash, Nightwing, and even Green Arrow in the 2010 animated short DC Showcase: Green Arrow.
Arrow will return October 7, 2015 at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.
