Ultron and Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor from Avengers: Age of Ultron will be the newest playable Marvel characters in Disney Interactive Studios' upcoming Disney Infinity 3.0, and Thursday they released more details.
"We selected Ultron and Hulkbuster very deliberately because we knew the reaction to them was so strong," said Bill Rosemann, creative director for Marvel Games, in a USA Today article. "People would want to experience these characters in the [Disney Infinity] format."
These two figures and a new Avengers: Age of Ultron playset will be the sole new Marvel playable aspects in this upcoming game, although figures from the two previous games will be playable in some sections of Disney Infinity 3.0.
One of the innovations of Disney Infinity 2.0 carried over to the new game is special abilities for each character. Ultron's will be summoning Ultron drones to swarm his opponents, as well as a "wave of destruction" energy blast, and a magnetic ability.
The Iron Man Hulkbuster figure's special ability wasn't revealed, but Avalanche/Disney Interactive Studios art director Jeff Bunker called him "about as big and bad as they get."
These figures will be released after the release of the Disney Infinity 3.0 edition Starter Pack on August 30, with the Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic playset and figures for Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, Zeb Orrelios, as well as Inside Out's five main emotion characters. In addition, there will also be figures for Tron: Legacy's Sam Flynn and Quorra, along with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Olaf from Frozen.
