Marty McFly has been to the past, present and future, and now he's coming to comic books.
On Wednesday, IDW Publishing announced plans for a Back to the Future comic book series spearheaded by the original movie's screenwriter, Bob Gale.
“We’ve subtitled this ‘Untold Tales and Alternate Timelines’ because for years, fans have asked questions about things that happened before the events of the trilogy, in between the events of the trilogy, or in our alternate realities,” Gale explained. “In this series, we’ll finally answer some of those questions, with our focus squarely on the characters everyone loves.”
Back to the Future #1 tells the story of Marty McFly's first meeting with Doc Brown, prior to the events of the first movie. A second story, also in the debut issue, is set in 1943 and Doc Brown's involvement in the Manhattan Project. Each issue will have two stories, co-written individually by John Barber and Erik Burnham. Brent Schoonover and Dan Schoening are set to draw the first issue's stories.
Back to the Future #1 is scheduled to be released October 21, 2015.
