Freedom Formula #1, cover AAs Newsarama reported from last year’s San Diego Comic Con, Bryan Singer has been circling Radical Publishing’s Freedom Formula (which he had a hand in developing) to possibly direct a film version of the comic, and Variety now reports that the project has taken a big step towards reality.
According to the trade, New Regency has landed the film rights to Freedom Formula: Ghost of the Wasteland as “a potential directing vehicle for Singer,” based on a script by Michael Finch. The film version will be distributed by Fox.
As the trade describes the series:
The comicbook has a futuristic premise in which fighter jets have been replaced by pilots who battle in racing exo-suits. The protag is a genetically engineered racer who learns his bloodline has the power to change society.
The film version of Freedom Formula will be a co-production of Radical and Bad Hat Harry Productions. Singer and Radical’s Barry Levine will co-produce, with Jesse Berger and Michael Zoumas serving as executive producers.
Radical’s Hercules: The Thracian Wars is currently set as a Universal/Spyglass production, with Peter Berg attached to direct from a script by Ran Condal.
