The Hero Initiative have announced a new 100 covers project featuring Mike Mignola's Hellboy. Hellboy 100 features 100 different comics artists contributing original covers done to blank copies of Hellboy & The B.P.R.D. 1952 #1. Hero Initiative will be auctioning off these covers in groups of 10 per week beginning June 2, with plans to collect them all into a book in September.
“Many of the comic book creators working in the’50’s, 60’s and ‘70s had no ownership of their creations and receive limited or no royalties,” said Hero Initiative President Jim McLauchlin. “When creators have medical or financial problems they can’t handle themselves, we help them. We’ve been able to save people’s homes, prevent evictions, and get people the medical treatment they desperately need. The goal of the Hero Initiative is to improve creators' quality of life and in some cases, save lives.”
Newsarama has the exclusive first look on Hellboy 100 covers by Fred Hembeck, Drew Johnson and Tony Fleecs, as well as a number of other covers previously released.
