The Wrap reports that 20th Century Fox has hired screenwriter Michael Green to write the upcoming third Wolverine movie. Green, who co-wote Green Lantern and is the showrunner of the upcoming American Gods television adaptation, is reportedly working on a new script with director James Mangold contributing.
Green is a veteran of comics-based television and movies, getting his start in 2002 as a writer and producer on Smallville. Since then he's worked on television shows such as Heroes, Everwood and Kings. He's also done feature work, being one of the four credited writers on Green Lantern, writing a draft of the proposed The Flash movie, as well as working on the upcoming sequels to Blade Runner and Prometheus.
This third Wolverine movie is announced to debut May 3, 2017, with filming set to begin in early 2016. In March 2014 it was reported that David James Kelly was writing the film, but the news of Green's hiring make it seem as though they're starting fresh. Mangold said on October 2013 that their plans at the time were to loosely adapt one of Wolverine's comic stories.
