The trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice dawned a little earlier for Warner Bros., but nevertheless they continued on with their IMAX Trailer event Monday. The event, hosted at select IMAX theatres nationwide, adds a new unique layer to blockbuster movies and the commodification of promotion for movies.
According to Newsarama contributors on-site, upon entering the theatre ticketholderss to this event received a complimentary pass to see the full Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice one week earlier than the announced March 25, 2016 release date, at the same theatre where they came for the trailer. Warner Bros. held pre-release showings of Man of Steel for special groups, but tying it to attendance of the planned unveiling of the trailer is unique.
Attendees to the Batman v Superman special IMAX event also received copies of the poster Snyder tweeted out on Sunday of Batman and Superman.
As for the video footage itself, Newsarama reporters on-hand noted that in addition to the trailer released last Friday there was a brief, additional scene featuring Superman and Batman running towards each other. The scene cut to black just as the two were to collide.
Although the Friday release of the trailer online might have spoiled some of the event's bravado, seeing the trailer and the brief bonus footage in IMAX added an impactful and epic nuance to the movie, with the visuals and audio playing well to the set-up of IMAX theaters.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released on March 25, 2016.
