Star Wars' smooth talker is coming to comics.
Marvel and LucasFilm have announced a new Star Wars comic book limited series featuring Lando Calrissian to launch in July 2015. Star Wars: Lando, written by Charles Soule and drawn by Alex Maleev, will reportedly be set before his cinematic debut in Star Wars, Episode V: Empire Strikes Back, and features Lando and his ertswhile companion Lobot looking to steal one of the most valuable space ships in the Star Wars universe.
“Is Lando Calrissian the coolest character in all of Star Wars? Depends on who you ask, probably. But if you ask me, the answer is yes, and I plan to prove it with this story,” Soule says in an interview with StarWars.com.
“Before Cloud City, before his glorious Death Star run, Lando Calrissian was just a man trying to make his way through an uncaring universe determined not to recognize that he was undeniably the coolest man in the galaxy.," says Soule. "But Lando’s got a plan to change all that… and it starts with the deal of a lifetime.”
Star Wars: Lando will be Marvel's second Star Wars limited series after the current Star Wars: Princess Leia series, and will sit alongside the three current ongoings Star Wars, Star Wars: Darth Vader and Star Wars: Kanan: The Last Padawan.
