Update April 2: Marvel Studios has issued the Avengers: Age of Ultron Red Carpet invite again Thursday afternoon, this time with actress Linda Cardellini being moved from the "From the Film" category to the "Special Guest" category, which includes actors that will appear/have appeared in Marvel films and TV shows like Paul Rudd and Chadwick Boseman, along with Jennifer Grey, wife of Clark Gregg.
Julie Delpy still appears in the "From the Film" list that features known cast members.
Marvel has not yet commented on the change.
Orginal story: Avengers: Age of Ultron boasts a cast even larger than the original Avengers film, and it looks like it may have discreetedly added two more.
Buried in a invitation e-mailed out to press for the upcoming April 13 red carpet premiere of Avengers: Age of Ultron in Los Angeles is news that Julie Delpy and Linda Cardellini are apparently part of the cast, or as the red carpet invite put it - "From the Film." Slashfilm is reporting that they've confirmed with Disney that the inclusion of the two actresses was not a misprint, but had no comment beyond that. Nothing was offered in regards to what roles they might be playing assuming they are indeed cast members. Here's the listing from the invite as to who is scheduled to be at the red carpet, with our notations in bold:
From the Film: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, James Spader, Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Cobie Smulders, Stellan Skarsgård, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Thomas Kretschmann, Claudia Kim, Julie Delpy, Linda Cardellini; Joss Whedon (director/writer), Kevin Feige (producer), Louis D’Esposito, Stan Lee, Jon Favreau (executive producers)
Cardellini is perhaps best known for her role in Freaks & Geeks and Mad Men, and she's currently starting in the Netflix series Bloodlines. Although this would be her first live-action superhero project, she voiced Lex Luthor's daughter Nasthalthia in 2011's All-Star Superman animated film.
Delpy is known for her roles in the celebrated French film trilogy Three Colors, as well as the Before Sunrise trilogy with fellow actor Ethan Hawke.
It's possible the acresses could simply have cameo roles similiar to Harry Dean Stanton's in the original Avengers, but if their roles are more subtantial, well ... we'll leave the speculation to our readers, other than to say one name comes to mind for Delpy - and this is pure speculation - the Enchantress.
