In many ways, it's the title that brought the Big Two back to doing comics events -- and now it's back.
Marvel has announced via Hero Complex a new House of M series set in the midst of Secret Wars' Battleworld. This new series follows in the line of other Secret Wars associated series, using the What If? concept on a major event - in this case, What if the original House of M never ended?
Set in the Battleworld domain known as the Monarchy, this new House of M series is written by Dennis Hopeless and illustrated by long-time X-Men artist Kris Anka. Hopeless says the series fill focus mostly on the ruling family of Magneto, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Curiously, there's no mention if House of M will reflect recent continuity changes in Axis that retconned out the fact that Magneto is not in fact the father of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
"The original House of M is about the Avengers waking up in and then bringing down this Magneto dream world. Secrets were revealed, the family was torn apart and Wanda depowered most of the mutants on Earth," says Hopeless, who reveals he worked in a comic shop when the original series debut. "Our story is a different thing altogether. This House of M is alive and well. Magneto, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch have the kind of complicated relationships you’d expect amongst members of a ruling family but their world isn’t crumbling around them (at least not at first). They drive each other nuts for all the normal reasons."
In addition to Magneto, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, House of M will also reportedly feature Namor and, surprisingly, Fin Fang Foom.
No firm date or month has been revealed for this new House of M series.
House of M was one of many series teased in images released in late 2014 by Marvel, and with this announcement all of the teased Secret Wars associated series have been announced -- but, of course, that doesn't necessarily mean they won't announce more.
