It looks like DC's burdgeoning TV universe is getting it's wings.
Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. has hired actress Ciara Renée to play Hawkgirl in the previously announced but unnamed Arrow/The Flash super-team spin-off show. The report indicates that Hawkgirl will be one of the lead roles in the show, which is being made by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim.
According to Deadline, Renée's Hawkgirl is a "young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been reincarnated over the centuries." There's no word if the series will bring in her alien origin from comics.
Renée recently guest starred in an episode of Law & Order: SVU, and has acted in the Broadway plays Big Fish and Pippin.
The Arrow/The Flash spinoff show has been pencilled in, according to Deadline, as a mid-season show ala Marvel's recent Agent Carter on ABC. Renée joins a cast which includes Brandon Rotuh as Ray Palmer/The Atom, Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heatwave as well as Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein and Caity Lotz - the latter being noteworthy since her character, Sarah Lance/Black Canary, was recently killed off in Arrow.
