It seems some people are just drawn to superheroes.
Both The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline are reporting that Drew Goddard is in talks to direct the recently announced reboot of the Spider-Man movie franchise produced by Marvel Studios. Goddard was previously hired by Sony to direct the presumably now-defunct Sinister Six spin-off movie to the Amazing Spider-Man movies, and was also pencilled in as the showrunner of Marvel's Daredevil television series at Netflix until leaving to focus on Sinister Six.
Deadline's unnamed sources state that Goddard has a meeting planned with Marvel and Sony, with THR adding that it's to be held on Tuesday. Goddard's role would be to both write and direct the reboot says THR, but Deadline is careful to clarify that announcing he has the job is "premature."
This rebooted Spider-Man film is scheduled to premiere on July 28, 2017.
