Looks like fans want Wolverine to have some new sparring partners.
At a press conference promoting his upcoming film Chappie, Hugh Jackman was asked about his role as Wolverine in the X-Men movies in light of several recent announcements about other comic movies. iDigitalTimes quotes Jackman as saying that the X-Men joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe could happen quicker than you might think.
"There are so many forces at play there. The thing I've always loved about the comic book world is how a writer could pull all these characters together," Jackman said, reiterating a point he's made in the past. "And what [started from] a Friday night discussion of, 'It would be cool to see Batman fight Wolverine' and Monday morning they're working on it. But that's an idealized world."
Chappie director Neil Blomkamp seized on Jackman's utilization of Batman to make a point and asked the audience, including Jackman, how that battle would play out.
"What about Christian Bale's Batman versus Wolverine?," said Blomkamp. "Guess without his technology [Wolverine] would cut him up. Maybe if he was in the Tumbler..."
Jackman reportedly responded quick on his feet, saying that Wolverine would make short work of the Dark Knight.
"We could try and stretch the movie out, beyond a short. But I'm guessing it'd be a short film," Jackman added comically.
