After a rumored right race among actresses, The Hollywood Reporter says that Morena Baccarin has been cast as the "female lead" in 2016's Deadpool. Baccarin will join Ryan Reynolds, who stars in the piece, in an as-yet-unidentified role as Reynolds' love interest according to THR. The Tim Miller-directed piece is scheduled to begin filming in March, with an announced release date of February 12, 2016.
THR states that Baccarin's character will be struggling over having romantic feelings for Deadpool given his "hideously scarred face." THR goes on to say that in the movie Deadpool, a.k.a. Wade Wilson, gets his disfigured (and his powers) after a botched procedure to cure him from cancer.
Baccarin is the latest in a string of cast additions to Deadpool, after the hirings of Gina Carano, T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein. In addition to that, 20th Century Fox will reported be looking to cast a new Colossus after the role was mentioned in THR's article on the hiring of Carano and previous Colossus actor Daniel Cudmore stating on Twitter that he would not be reprising his role.
