The villains are coming out of the woodwork for the secret agents of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ... and the actor cast to play the next one has quite the pedigree.
Actress Drea de Matteo (Sopranos, Sons of Anarchy) has been cast in a guest-starring role in season two of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Variety reports that she'll play Karla Faye Gideon, a "gifted woman with a grudge to bare against S.H.I.E.L.D." She'll reportedly be working alongside Kyle MacLachlan's character of Cal, the recently revealed father of Skye.
“We’re thrilled to have Drea join us as yet another great villain to challenge our cast,” Jeph Loeb, exec producer and Marvel’s Head of Television, said to Variety. “We relished the opportunity to work with her in such a menacing role.”
The character of Karla Faye Gideon has its roots in comics, appearing in the Daredevil: Redemption miniseries as a forlorn mother whose son was killed. In that story she had no apparent superpowers, leading us to believe Marvel might be expanding on the comics character in this television role.
There's no word on which episode de Matteo will debut, but Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns from its winter hiatus on Tuesday, March 3 at 9 p.m.
