You won't believe how much money changed hands to make this Spider-Man deal between Sony and Marvel happen.
None... at least according to one Hollywood trade.
A firmly-teenage Spider-Man would be consistent with Marvel's in-house handling of Spider-Man in their Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, which primarly focuses on playing the high-school age hero up against the older more experienced heroes of the Marvel Universe.
And contrasting with previous reports, Variety says the previously announced spin-off films for the Sinister Six, Venom and a female Spider-character(s) spin-off are still "moving forward" despite this seemingly game-changing deal with Marvel. They speculate that Fiege and Marvel's work on Spider-Man will be limited to the Spider-Man films themselves and any Marvel Studios' films he appears in, but not any Spider-Man spin-off features.
The fate of the proposed spin-offs will be something to keep an eye on, because now they'd theoretically take place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it seems unlikely Marvel Studios would give another studio use of the MCU without some creative participation or oversight.
