DC Comics wanted everyone to know that Superman develops a brand new superpower - the Super Flare - in this week's Superman #38 by Geoff Johns and John Romita Jr., but they still held on to some surprises, including a last page reveal no one saw coming.
We of course recommend that your regular Superman readers or new readers who want to read it yourselves as intended go away now, but if you're a comic book fan or observer who just wants to know interesting things happening to major characters, here you go.

After using his new Super Flare for the first time, Superman passes out, and wakes up in the Batcave under the care of Batman. The Dark Knight reveals to Superman that his heat vision was a precursor to this new ability, and that .... wait for it...
....when he uses the Super Flare, his solar cells deplete and need to recharge for approximately 24 hours, making Superman a normal human being during that time.
With his Kryptonian armor - the original New 52 suit - ruined by the activation of his Super Flare, Superman's new costume seems to have come with an assistance from Alfred and Batman, and is revealed on the last page, where Superman does some revealing of his own.
