Disney's next Star Wars movie has reportedly found its star.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, current Oscar-nominee (for the Theory of Everything) Felicity Jones has been cast in the lead role of the upcoming standalone Star Wars movie by director Gareth Edwards. This is the first bit of news after it was revealed that Gary Whitta had left this Star Wars project with Chris Weitz hired to replace him.
No details as to Jones' character, the movie's plot, or even the movie's full title have been disclosed, but Variety reports that Jones beat out Rooney Mara and Tatiana Maslany for the part. The movie is set to be released December 16, 2016.
But what could Jones' role be? Dare we say 'Princess Leia solo movie'? Would they? Could they?
A story about how she wound up with the Death Star plans could be interesting...
