When Fox's Gotham returns from break on January 5, look for a surprising new team-up to form. Morena Baccarin, who plays Dr. Leslie Thompkins, tells Entertainment Weekly that after Jim Gordon is transfered to work at Arkham Asylum that they "team up" and that they're consciously breaking away from her character's story in comics.
Here's a new clip via EW featuring Baccarin's debut as Thompkins on Gotham - her first meeting with Gordon on the episode "Rogue's Gallery."
"I’m working at Arkham, but we’re not sticking too close to the original mythology,” the actress tells EW. “We are having her team up with Jim Gordon instead of the Wayne family and Bruce. Eventually, who knows—it could go in that direction, but it hasn’t yet.”
Baccarin says that the two characters develop a "really great relationship" that comes out of their work environment, Arkham Asylum, being so "dark and crazy".
"Jim finds an ally in her," Baccarin says," which I think is important for him at this point. He’s beaten down by the system and he’s been fighting this one-man operation to make Gotham not as corrupt. I think it’s really important that he finds that relationship in Leslie.”
Another SUPERGIRL Candidate?
In other DC TV news, British tabloid the Sun is reporting that UK soap opera star/TV personality/former glamour-lingerie model Gemma Atkinson is on the shortlist for the title role in CBS's in-development Supergirl series. Citing a source close to the actress, the Sun says that the 30-year Atkinson has already completed an audition and is waiting to hear back.
The Vampire Diaries Claire Holt was previously cited as being on CBS's shortlist for Kara.
