Deadline's Mike Fleming Jr. is reporting that five directors are vying for the coveted director's chair in the upcoming Star Trek 3 motion picture. The production was put in a tailspin when previously announced director Robert Orci left the movie just a few weeks ago, and both Paramount and J.J. Abrams are looking to get the film back on track.
Deadline cites an anonymous source that says Rise of the Planet of the Apes' Rupert Wyatt has had productive talks with the studio about Star Trek 3, and is currently leading a pack of a total of five directors being considered. Wyatt is joined by two up and comiers in The Imitation Game's Morten Tyldum and Child 44's Daniel Espinosa, as well as two of Hollywood's hottest directors: Justin Lin (Fast & Furious, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) and Duncan Jones (Source Code, Moon).
