While Jeremy Irons was in Marrakech for their international film festival, he talked a bit about his role in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, which also wrapped principal photography over the weekend. The Hollywood Reporter reported on that and his speech in his career award speech.
While he didn’t say much about Alfred in the film, he did hint at a couple of things.
”[It’s] not a large role,” Irons said about the character, noting the expansive cast in the movie. “He is quite a different Alfred than we have seen so far. Zack Snyder had very clear views about what he wanted. I would just say he's more hands-on perhaps than just a butler."
Could we see an Alfred more akin to the take currently in the Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo Batman comics? In those pages, Alfred is very much a hands-on command center control kind of character. Rather than being, as Irons said, “just a butler,” the modern Alfred is basically the second-in-command for the Bat family going by the not-very-coded callsign of Penny One. He often takes on a role similar to that of the character Oracle in the pre-New 52 DCU, pointing out trouble areas, coordinating the efforts of Batman and his cohorts, and monitoring the heroes in real time.
SNL Does Star Wars for ANOTHER Teaser Parody
No, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser parodies haven’t stopped yet. Saturday Night Live got in on the action this weekend with their own take on the teaser. The show’s take is focused on the age of the original trilogy characters but also teases the teaser about things like the multiple-beamed light saber and the rolling droid with an astromech head.
That makes, by our count, approximately 88 parodies of the film’s 88 second teaser trailer. Just imagine when a full trailer hits.
