Marvel has been playing with the “Specials” idea of late, and has announced a new series of specials in March-May 2015. Written by Jimmy Kimmel Live! writer Jeff Loveness (who has also written for Marvel already). The specials also tell you who is involved in the story. Amazing Spider-Man Special #1 includes art by Luca Pizzeria, and kicks off the story March 11, 2015. Inhuman Special #1 follows that on April 1, with All-New Captain America Special #1 on may 6. No artists were announced for the second and third issues in the story yet. Jamal Campbell provides covers to all three one-shots.
The announcement first hit on ABCNews.com (#corporatesynergy), where Loveness expressed his excitement for the story. He called it a dream since he was 4 years old “to write Spider-Man. I cannot complain about anything for the rest of my life.”
The writer didn’t give too much information about the story itself, but it will see the Inhumans reluctantly seeking the help of Spider-Man and the All-New Captain America, Sam Wilson, to defend New Attilan from “hideously deformed monsters.” Loveless said all the characters involved are “at interesting points in their tenure,” with the new Cap having “a huge amount of pressure to live up to the icon that proceeded him.” Meanwhile, of the Inhumans, he said it’s “cool to see them come into their own,” name-dropping the Marvel Studios film that hits November 2, 2018. Ultimately though, it all comes back to the web-slinger for him.
”Spider-Man is the greatest Marvel character of all time. It’s been my favorite part so far, to jump into Peter’s voice.”
