It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, but in the same interview that producer Charles Roven revealed some of Bruce Wayne’s characterization in the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, he also mentioned Wonder Woman - specifically, her origins.

And yes, they’re using the New 52 origin.

The origin from the reboot that is now three years running has Diana as the illegitimate child of Hippolyta and the Greek god Zeus. That’s exactly how Roven described her, saying Wonder Woman is ““a demigod…her father was Zeus.” He didn’t say whether or how much that would really come into play when Wonder Woman first takes the screen, but it does open the possibilities of what a Wonder Woman solo film could contain.

Despite initial fan backlash for changing her origins, the three-year comic book run by Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang won over fans and critics with a strong focus on Wonder Woman’s now official extended family: the Greek Pantheon. That certainly could be ripe for the picking for film adaptation.
