Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV came to moderate the panel at New York Comic Con focusing on their animated fare.
"My friend and your friend, Joe Quesada, thinks that fans in New York love Marvel more than the West Coast - and I'm a West Coast guy... so if you're really the biggest fans in the world, I need to hear it!" Loeb started, getting people fired up with lots of screaming and clapping. He then led the crowd in a "Make!" "Mine!" "Marvel!" chant, with the room split in three each saying one word.
After that, Loeb thanked everyone involved with animation, specifically calling out Dan Buckley, Steve Wacker, and more. He brought up Avengers Assemble Season 2, and started with a three minute clip that has not yet been seen anywhere before. "New York gets to see it before anybody else!" The clip featured the Red Skull "out there making trouble, and a certain soldier comes back, and Falcon and Captain America have to deal with him!
The clip wa indeed of Winter Soldier and Captain America having a fight while soaring over the Atlantic on a missile, with the Red Skull there as well. "It's a great season and a lot of fun," Loeb said.
"The third season of Ultimate Spider-Man is affectionately subtitled 'Web Warriors,' and you can see why," Loeb said. The screen showed a new second promo image with more multiple Spideys on it. "We're doing an arc that's our version of Spider-Verse, like what Dan Slott is doing in the comics. When Spider-Man meets these other versions, it changes up the look of things a bit."
A clip of Ultimate Spidey meeting Spider-Man 2099 was shown next. The whole clip is CGI animated (because it's in the future!).
Afterwards, Loeb asked if there were women in the audience, and introduced a clip of Ultimate Spidey meeting Spider-Girl.
Spider-Girl is snarky to him, saying "Boys can't be Spider-Girl. Give it up, cosplay, let the real heroes work!" Lots of applause to that.
After that, a full episode of Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., featuring the Guardians of hte Galaxy was screened. We'll be back in about 20 minutes with anything else revealed at the panel. The episode had some great fights between the two teams, and also revealed the Skrulls as the main villain in it. Super Skrull was there, and they fought against him, mentioning "he has the combined powers of the Fantastic Four!"
Test animation footage was shown next featuring Rocket Raccoon running and gunning. Peter Quill stood there, in full movie garb with the disappearing helmet, and they officially announced the rumored Guardians of the Galaxy animated series. The series will premiere in 2015 on the Marvel Universe programming block on Disney XD. And here's that test footage:
