Hasbro and 3DPlusMe want you to play with yourself.
Yes, at last, your dream of being a superhero can come true; at least in action figure form. With a new “Super Awesome Me” experience, fans of all ages can have their faces scanned and mapped onto Iron Man or Captain America action figures (sorry ladies, it seems there aren’t any female character options in this promotion, though oddly on the 3DPlusMe website they show an alternate kiosk with Black Widow included). The figures are 12-inch articulated toys at $45 a pop, and take about 4 weeks to make after visiting the scanning stations.
Prospective superheroes can visit the 10 Walmart and 2 Sam’s Club stores in the New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston markets that will house the special stations throughout September. The USAToday announcement pointed people to www.superawesomeme.com for more information, including the list of locations, but it has not been updated to include this promotion.
