James D’Arcy, who can currently be seen in Let’s Be Cops, has been cast in the role of Edwin Jarvis (no acronym), the very human and very loyal butler to Howard Stark in Marvel’s Agent Carter.
Marvel says Jarvis will be an “unexpected ally to Peggy Carter.”
D’Arcy joins Hayley Atwell in the title role, along with Chad Michael Murray as SSR Agent Jack Thompson and Enver Gjokaj as Agent Daniel Sousa. Marvel has not announced who will play Howard Stark but it is expected Dominic Cooper, who played the role in Captain America: The First Avenger, will reprise it.
In other superhero TV show casting news, Nick Tarabay, the scheming Ashur on the Starz series Spartacus, becomes the latest veteran from that show to be cast on THE CWs Arrow in a recurring role, joining other former cast mates Manu Bennett (Slade Wilson/Deathstroke) and Katrina Law (Nyssa al Ghul).
Tarabay will continue his villainous ways appearing in the seventh and eighth episodes of the third season (the latter a part of the planned Arrow-The Flash two-hour crossover) as Digger Harkness, otherwise known as Flash rogue Captain Boomerang.
According to Enterainment Weekly, when he debuts on Arrow, Harkness will be “an ex-A.R.G.U.S. operative, who is skilled in martial arts and espionage, with a thirst for vengeance against his former employers.”
