Marvel Studios may rule the big screen, but DC is certainly building its own empire on the small screen.

Deadline reports Tuesday yet another DC-based comic book series is being developed as a drama for Fox. This time it’s a put pilot commitment to Lucifer, from Californication creator/executive producer Tom Kapinos and, of course, Warner Bros. TV.

The modern version of Lucifer Morningstar first appeared in 1989 as a supporting character in Neil Gaiman’s seminal The Sandman, before being spun-off into his own long-running Vertigo series written by Mike Carey between 2000 and 2006.

According to the Hollywood trade, the TV series, written and executive produced by Kapinos, centers on Lucifer who, “bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he opens an exclusive piano bar called Lux.”

Lucifer becomes just the latest TV drama based on a DC property put in development, with Supergirl and The Titans being the latest recent additions to their rapidly growing roster.
