Kevin Smith is making Harley Quinn fight demons with the power of yoga, on the big screen.
That sentence may sound crazy, but it’s factually correct - of course the “Harley Quinn” in question is his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith. In a new superhero movie called Yoga Hosers, Smith’s teenage daughter will star alongside Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp, and fight an ancient evil that rises in Canada.
The movie is the second in Smith’s “True North Trilogy,” and will also star much of the cast of the first, Tusk, alongside Harley, Lily-Rose, and Johnny Depp. THR broke the news of the action film.
Kevin Smith calls this movie his entrance into the “comic book movie” genre, seemingly confusing the terms “comic book” and “superhero.”
“People always ask me ‘Are you ever going to make a comic book movie?’” Smith told THR. “This is it - but instead of yet another dude saving the day, our antiheroes are the most feared and formidable creatures man has ever encountered: two fifteen year old girls.”
The movie will see the two girls each playing 15-year-olds named Colleen who team up with a “legendary man-hunter” named Guy Lapointe (played by Johnny Depp) to fight an ancient evil with the power of all seven Chakras, “one Warrior Pose at a time.” Of course, the two are working as convenience store clerks when all hell breaks loose (literally), bringing Smith at least spiritually full circle to his first film.
The movie is filming now for an undisclosed release. Tusk, the first in the trilogy, is debuting at Toronto Film Festival in September, 2014.
