Valiant Entertainment continues to build their stable of creators this October, as they sign Clay Mann to an exclusive contract. His first gig under the exclusive is X-O Manowar #0 coming on October 8, 2014. The story, Mann's first work for Valiant after establishing himself with several years of work at Marvel Comics, will feature the unrevealed story of Aric of Dacia as his life before the armor is explored. X-O writer Robert Venditti will write the issue, which is considered a jumping-on point that will set up the future of the character by exploring his past.
One week later, another zero issue hits, from the team of Matt Kindt and Cary Nord. Unity #0 will tell the secret origin of Valiant's superteam as told by the Eternal Warrior. As it turns out, they may be a considerably older organization than anyone believes. As Valiant describes the issue, "The unbreakable all-star superteam known as UNITY has saved the planet, and the world is in its debt…but is this the first time a band of exceptional heroes and soldiers has rescued humanity from a doomsday threat? The Eternal Warrior remembers…and, one hundred years ago, he led another team of valiant champions on a life-or-death mission that changed the very course of history. Now, for the first time, find out why the world needs UNITY…and there has always been one to stand against the threats no ordinary team could match!"
Mann joins Jeff Lemire, Paolo Rivera, and Rafa Sandoval as 2014-debuting creators at Valiant Comics. Doug Braithwaite, Cafu, Joshua Dysart, Clayton henry, Trevor Hairsine, and Cary Nord are also exclusive to the publisher, which just entered its third year since their reboot/revival.
