Son of Batman, the next DC Animation feature film, based on the "Batman and Son" story by Grant Morrison, will debut at WonderCon on April 18, 2014, DC Entertainment announced today. The premiere will include a panel after the screening of the movie featuring people involved with the film's production, including Jason O'Mara, the film's voice of Batman, and Sean Maher, Nightwing, with more panelists to be announced.
The film will hit retail on May 6, 2014. Featuring a story taken from the pages of DC Comics, Son of Batman serves as the origin story for Damian Wayne, the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul. The story talks about how Batman came to have a son with one of his worst enemy's daughter (not to mention not know about it for years - so much for 'world's greatest detective!'), as Bruce struggles to bring his newest Robin under control.
The pair then must team up against Deathstroke and an army of ninja Man-bats because comic book stories are awesome.
Jason O'Mara reprises his role as Batman, joined by Stuart Allan as Damian, Thomas Gibson as Deathstroke, Morena Baccarin as Talia, Xander Berkeley as Dr. Langstrom, David McCallum as Alfred, Giancarlo Esposito as Ra's al Ghul, Sean Maher as Nightwing, and Bruce Thomas as Commissioner Gordon. Ethan Spaulding directed the story off a screenplay by Joe R. Lansdale.
The DVD/Blu-Ray release will also include bonus featurettes on the history of The League of Assassins and the story of Damian Wayne, as well as a sneak peek at the next DC Animated Movie: Batman: Assault of Arkham (hey, it's his 75th anniversary, of course he gets two in one year!).
