Thanks to USAToday we have our first look deeper into Star Wars: Rebels, with actual footage of the leader of The Ghost (and thus the early Rebel alliance), Kanan. The Jedi is described as "rough around the edges," a "cocky Jedi," and "a Jedi who has given up being a Jedi. He's kept his lightsaber locked away," by the production crew on the show.
Voiced by Freddie Prinze, Jr., Kanan will lead a ragtag group of Rebels as he "has to pick up the sword again" in the series and get back to being a Jedi. Interestingly, a lot of Kanan's earlier shots look more like a Han Solo type than a Luke Skywalker type, and that seems to be on purpose. After the Jedi Purge and the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith when the Clonetroopers turned against their Jedi generals (as they were programmed to do), Kanan went into hiding, stopped using the lightsaber, and became more of a journeyman gunslinger.
Take a look at Kanan in action, and hear your first lines of dialogue from Star Wars: Rebels, which premieres this fall on the Disney channel.
