A day after reports surfaced that Captain America: The Winter Soldier co-directors (and brothers) Anthony and Joe Russo were going to be asked back by Marvel Studios to direct Captain America 3 , news has surfaced that Marvel has lined up the co-writers for the third Thor installment.

Craig Kyle, familiar to comic book readers and Marvel animation fans, will co-write with his frequent writing partner Christopher Yost .

Yost co-wrote Thor: The Dark Word, along with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, based on a story by Don Payne and Robert Rodat.

Kyle, who was Marvel Studio’s Senior VP of Production and Development, will leave that post to pursue screenwriting full-time.

Marvel President Kevin Feige said in a statement Wednesday evening: “I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years. His creative instincts have helped shape Thor and Thor: The Dark World at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor’s adventure.”

Kyle and Yost co-wrote the 2003 episode of X-Men: Evolution that introduced the character X-23, and then re-teamed to write a comic book limited series introducing the character to the Marvel Universe. Among their collaborations, the duo also teamed on run of the post-Grant Morrison New X-Men title and a 2008-2010 X-Force series.

While it comes as no surprise there will be third installments of both Captain America and Thor, given Marvel is now lining up creative talent for both, it seems like a good bet two of the three unannounced films Marvel scheduled opening dates for in 2016 and 2017 will be these threequels. Marvel, however, still has the matter of sharing the May 6, 2016 opening weekend Warner Bros. moved the Superman/Batman Man of Steel sequel to recently to contend with.
