Mahmud Asrar, recently announced artist on the All-New Marvel NOW! relaunch for Wolverine and the X-Men, is also now an exclusive artist with Marvel Comics, the publisher announced via press release Wednesday morning. After a couple of shorter runs on books like Nova and Ultimate X-Men, and more recently Indestructible Hulk, Asrar said the chance to draw Wolverine and others enticed him.
"CB Cebulski knew I had a weak spot for Wolverine so he asked if I'd be interested in doing Wolverine and the X-Men with Jason Latour. The lure worked and I just couldn't resist jumping on board."
This is the first major signing announcement by either of the "big two" publishers, who used to send this kind of press release on a near-monthly basis. While they have made exclusive agreements with creators in the past few years, they simply haven't trumpeted it out. That speaks to their faith in Asrar and his talents for the publisher.
