That’s the Teaser trailer for The Walking Dead: Season Two, the second episodic game based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book and TV hit coming from Telltale games. While the company isn’t giving a firm release date, they do promise it is coming “this year” in a press release, meaning fans will get to go back into the world of The Walking Dead, and continue the story of Clementine – as the trailer revealed – within the next two months.
The Walking Dead: Season Two will initially be coming to PC/Mac via Steam (pre-orders are available now, for 10% off at $22.49), Xbox 360, PS3, and iOS. It’s safe to assume that like Season One and The Wolf Among Us before it, Season Two will also make its way to the PlayStation Vita soon after its release.
The game continues the story of Clementine, a brand-new character introduced to this world via the first season of the game, having never appeared in the comic books or television show. Clementine becomes the main playable character for Season Two, as she journeys through an all-new story using Telltale’s now classic system of exploration in a new point-and-click adventure game. Playing as a child in this horrifying post-apocalyptic world will significantly change the way decisions are handled this time around. Of course, the decisions you make throughout Season Two will carry through and change the game’s experience for every player.
“The terrifying nature of Robert Kirkman’s world has allowed Telltale to push the boundaries of interactive drama in video games to a place that has had fans anxious to know what will happen next in this series,” said Dan Connors, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games in a press release. “Today we can finally lift the veil, albeit only a little, on how this story will continue, and we’ll soon be putting players in the shoes of a lead role that will challenge their expectations of how to survive in a world where no one can be trusted.”
In addition to The Walking Dead: Season Two announcement, Telltale announced that the first season’s Game of the Year Edition will hit stores in November for $29.99. The retail edition is available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, and includes all five episodes plus the 400 Days DLC, the original score, and a behind-the-scenes video. The full package is already available for the PlayStation Vita (including the DLC but minus the bonus content).
Stay tuned for more on The Walking Dead: Season Two, including a firm release date for the first episode, soon.
