Saturday morning at New York Comic Con Marvel announced a new video game for Spider-Man titled Amazing Spider-Man 2 by Activision and Beenox. This Spring 2014 release will be a sequel to 2012’s Amazing Spider-Man video – also by Beenox, and will be a third-person action adventure game with an original storyline separate from the 2014’ film that shares its name.
"This game is a sequel to the first game " Marvel’s Chris Baker says in an interview with Polygon’s Brian Crecente."Think of it in terms of the first movie happened and that established our game world. The first game happened, which was an extension to the first film. From then forward the movies are going their way and the games are going their way.”
The video game Amazing Spider-Man 2 will take place in an "open-world" Manhattan, and willgive players missions both as Spider-Man and Peter Parker to explore. The game include both characters who've shown up in the movies as well as characters strictly from the original comic books. In addition to various upgrades and challenges for the player, Amazing Spider-Man 2 will also feature a new "Hero or Menace" system which will reward good deeds with additional features being unlocked, while negative deeds would result in more detrimental events occurring to your character.
Another added feature for the Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game is different types of webbing for Marvel’s web-slinger. In addition to what Baker calls Spider-Man’s “typical impact webbing,” there will also be a type called cryo-webbing that will add an “RPG-like element” to the game.
